Let’s just skip this week, okay?

No? Well let’s just say that my sinus infection reached critical mass at the same time that my creativity stores reached critical lows. Week 3 was a STRUGGLE, folks. Let’s take a look at the wagons and see which ones I fell off of and which I managed to stay on.

Word Count Wagon: Fell

Daily Writing Wagon: Stayed...mostly

Brain Yoga Wagon: Fell during Week 1 (did I fail to mention that? oops!)

Sleep Wagon: Hanging on by a thread

But fear not. For every wagon I fell off...

Day 8:

Another great day in the chatroom. Tonight I tackled several scenes that the earlier chapters have been waiting on, which means that I’ll be able to polish up another round of chapters soon and give them the ever elusive “done” stamp. I also discovered some new subplots for the middle of the book, which is great because that’s where the story is the most sparse right now. All in all, a really productive night!

At last, NaNoWriMo is here! I did the stay-up-til-midnight thing to kick off the event. It’s a lot like New Years Eve, but instead of making a bunch of noise and possibly kissing a stranger, at the stroke of twelve you simply sit down and write. The cool thing about this year’s start of NaNo is that it fell on the Dayligh...

Happy Halloween! (Okay, it’s Mischief Night, but close enough.)

Since it’s the end of a very eventful month, I thought I’d post a recap of everything that’s been going on in recent weeks. Top 5 List, anyone?

1.   I finally broke that 50k mark I’ve been chasing for the last couple of months! Here’s an excerpt from the most recent scene:

Wyck looked in the mirror. The cut wasn’t too bad. The blood was already starting to dry at the edges. He took one finger and gingerly pressed against his chee...

1.   Have a plan - - of some sort. Your plan might be that you’re going to free-write the whole thing and refine the story later. Or, you might try your hand at outlining the whole thing, start to finish. Or perhaps you’ll take a casting approach by gathering your characters and then deciding what sort of lessons each individual will learn during their journey. Put some thought into it in advance so you’re not spending the first week figuring out your course of action.

2.   Prep your workspace....

Welcome! This is the very first blog post, so I’ll keep things simple and introduce you to the site. The focus of Myths Mists & Musings is to share my creative projects and related topics, such as writing, painting, mythology, fantasy/dark fantasy, and the natural world. The blog will also feature interviews with fellow creatives and entrepreneurs. Under the Books tab you will find information about my writing project(s) and under the Art tab you will find a gallery of my artwork. If you have an...
